There are a number of types of actions which you will encounter while making your way around the system. Basically, the are all very similar in that they perform a certain function or take you to a certain page, but they have different priorities depending on their location and the context of the user at a given time.
Key actions
These actions are represented by bright blue buttons on the right-hand side of the screen, and are the most common or most likely action the user will take on that page. They are also context-sensitive in that they change as the situation evolves.
For example, on a vacant property a key action will be to Create a Tenancy. However, when a tenancy has been set up then creating a new tenancy is no longer the most likely action on that property view and a new key action will be shown, e.g. to Record a Receipt.
Options
All records will have actions which may be performed from time to time, but not typically every day.
For example, you can delete or archive a tenant, or transfer ownership of a property to another landlord. These not-so-common actions are generally located under the Options group menu. Some actions may be hidden depending on your user role and privilege level.
Global actions
No matter where you are within the application, you sometimes need to add a new record very quickly. This is where the global actions come into play, so-called because they are available in the very top of every screen via the large + icon.
If you're on a landlord record and a prospective tenant calls to arrange a viewing, you can quickly add a new viewing from directly on that page.
New actions
Some actions may be invoked from various screens within a particular record view, and these have been separated out into a green New action group above the inner menu. For example, on a property overview screen you may wish to create a new Note, but you may equally wish do this from the property financial screens. The New menu is available from all property screens.
Can't find the desired action?
If you can't find the action you are looking for, it may be located via some of the secondary menu items on the record you are viewing.
For example, if a tenancy already exists on a property then the Create Tenancy key action will no longer be shown, but nor will this option appear on the Options group. In this case, go to the Management > Tenancies menu, and Create Tenancy is a key action on this page.
